Legislative Committee
Chair
Sarah Taylor AGCNS-BC, MSN, MHR, CEN
Chair
Sarah currently serves as the Critical Care CNS at Sentara Obici Hospital where she directs the care of acutely ill patients. Sarah has been a CNS for 6 years and is very excited to be a change agent for and mentor to nurses. Her career has been strengthened by many nursing peers who did not give up on her, who mentored her and who helped her grow exponentially. Being a CNS is an opportunity to "give back" to nursing what it gave to her: a satisfying career where learning is lifelong.
She received her BSN & MSN/AGCNS-BC from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia, her Master’s in Human Relations (MHR) from the University of Oklahoma and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) through the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Sarah's background includes 18 years in the US Navy and 22 years as an Emergency Department RN who is a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN). She currently is a member of Wilderness Medicine.org, Remote Area Medical.org NACNS and the VaCNS. Sarah has presented at many national conferences as both speaker and poster presenter. Her long-term goals include raising awareness of the role of CNSs in Virginia and working to gain Full Practice Authority through her position on the VaCNS Legislative committee.
