SB 975 Title Change-Legislative Update-Go Live July 1, 2023

Our bill, SB 975, will change the nomenclature that refers to all APRNs as nurse practitioners to Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN). All sections of the Code of Virginia that currently names all APRNs as  "nurse practitioners" will be amended to "advanced practice registered nurse". This bill was voted out of the Senate Education and Health committee on January 19th in a supportive unanimous vote of 14Y, 0-N and was read for the 3rd time by the full Senate on January 24th. This resulted in another unanimous vote of 39-Y, 0-N.
